World Smile Day is upon us. Did you know that this day in celebration of smiles and acts of kindness was created by Harvey Ball, the man that invented the bright yellow smiley face we all know and love? In honor of World Smile Day and Mr. Ball, I thought about a few things that make me smile. Here are a some of my favorite grin inducing things.

As a child, I loved my Easy Bake Oven... and it probably inspired my life-long love of baking and cooking. I sculpted cakes for a top Chicago caterer long before Cake Boss started doing his thing and planned dinner menus around the favorite menus of great chefs. Much of that was before kids… which changes many things. Now my culinary focus leans toward making food more playful and appealing to kids. {Of course that doesn’t mean giving up flavor and style! You can still play with gourmet food!}
