So it comes as no surprise that Dancing Bear Toys, Asheville's neighborhood toy store, plays a shining role in holiday festivities. That doesn't just mean stocking the shelves with kid-friendly favorites. This year, the store has decided to play Santa's Helper with a special shopping night just for Mom and Dad...
That's right parents, a kid-free event -- at a toy store!
Jingle and Mingle, to be held at the store on December 1st, will provide parents the perfect blend of date night and holiday shopping. Parents can relax and check off their holiday shopping list free of curious little eyes peeping for presents.
The 2nd annual event will kick off the store's extended holiday hours. Parents will be able to enjoy alcoholic drinks (those over 21 years of age, of course) and snacks as they peruse unique toys and gifts. Dancing Bear Toys will also be offering gift-wrapping and shipping services for those that need them.
Erika Evers, one of the two sisters who own the store, loves coming up with ideas that gives Dancing Bear a reputation for being one of the most fun toy stores in North Carolina.
We feel like these free events help us to be a part of our community," said Erika. "We hope events like these leaves customers with the feeling that there's always something fun happening at Dancing Bear Toys -- and that its not always about making money.
Jingle and Mingle comes on the heels of a busy, event-full fall, including the store's 2nd annual Fun Fest last September.
We invited 12-16 local small businesses that are kid related to join us in our parking lot for the Fun Fest, Erika explained. The vendors can come for 'free' but they must have a free activity for kids. Then they can then promote themselves. We had an ice cream vendor and a hot dog food truck. It was a great success!
Jingle and Mingle may be a kid-free event -- but it's full of kid-friendly spirit. The team at Dancing Bear hopes that parents will reconnect with their inner child as they try out cool new toys, connect with other parents, and chat with the staff. After all, connecting is what the holidays are all about.
We get to know the kids personally and they get to know us," said Erika. "We hope to always come up with new and different events because our customers love it .. and we do too!
